Mind in the Vale take part in Time to Talk day 2022
Mind in the Vale took part in Time to Talk day on Thursday 3rd February – a day where we are encouraged to start a conversation about mental health.
Day Services Manager Barney Sanders was interviewed on BBC Radio Wales, along with Wyn Evans on the Dot Davies show and we also visited Barry Island with information on our services and to talk to passers by.
Despite the weather, it was a very busy day on the Island and we enjoyed chatting to lots of locals and visitors alike. Many people shared with us their own experiences, others were keen to find out more about the services we offer in the community.
We enjoyed hearing from enjoyed people who wanted to tell us what they do to improve their mental health. For some it was a yoga practice, football on the beach, a dip in the ice cold sea, walking the dog on the beautiful barryisland, for others medication plays an important role, chatting with friends over a hot chocolate, carpentry, watching TV, writing, making people smile with magic tricks. There were so many things – thank you all for sharing, we loved talking to you.
Later in the day we bumped into PCSO Richards and PCSO Ashment from South Wales Police who were happy to join us in our conversation about mental health.
