Barry based record label supports local good causes

Meet Jay Sabourin and Vincent Bailey, brothers and founders of Barry based record label TimeSlave Recordings. TimeSlave and its sister label ‘My Pet Flamingo’, specialise in unique retro-futuristic music called ‘Synthwave’ and ‘Vaporwave’.

Initially inspired to fundraise for good causes by their brother Jacob, who has down’s syndrome, the brothers have raised more than £20,000 for good causes since staring their record company in October 2016.

Flamingo Funk vol.2 and FutureSounds vol.3 were the latest in a series of charity compilation albums by the brothers and featured a number of prominent electronic music producers from around the world.

The records sold out quickly to fans on every continent raising money for a number of charities – 50% going to Mind in the Vale, with the rest split between Barry Town United’s disability football team and the Bridgend Dog’s Trust.

Vince commented: “It feels like we released the record a lifetime ago, just before Covid, and in hindsight the charities we chose were perfect.

“People really struggled with their mental health during the pandemic and it was great to be able to play a small part in supporting the great work that Mind do.

“We always like to work with local charities because they’re so closely tied in to the local communities they support. We were really proud to raise so much money for them and grateful to all of the artists and fans who supported us.”

Mind in the Vale commented ‘It was great to meet Vince and Jay to chat about their music and fundraising endeavors, we’re so grateful when people in our community choose to support us in whichever way they can. Huge thanks to all the team at Timeslave recordings, the contributors and those who purchased the records.’
